Core Challenge - Higher Education (AMMTE) (Towson University, Towson, MD)
Location: 7800 York Road, Towson, Maryland 21252 (
campus map). Free parking available len garage adjacent to the 7800 York Road building (No permit needed on the weekend).
Date/time: Saturday, February 25, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (Lunch provided by
MCTM)
AMMTE, the Maryland Council of Teachers of Mathematics (MCTM), and
Livescribe, Inc. are proud to host a meeting to discuss matters related
to the emergence of the Common Core State Curriculum. At this meeting,
leaders will examine and provide input toward the development of the
Common Core Learning Community. This event can accommodate up to 20
participants from Maryland's institutions of higher education.
Refreshments and lunch will be provided as well as a Livescribe
smartpen.

Smartpen 101 Online Course
View the videos in Modules 1-4 in the self-paced online course,
"Smartpen 101." We will have only a short amount of time together at
the meeting, so is critical that you learn the basics of using your
smartpen prior to arrival. Follow these directions to enroll in the
course:
- Go to www.smartpen101.com
- Read the instructions under “Is this your first time here?”
- Click on the “Create new account” button
- Fill in the registration information
- Click on the “Create my new account” button which will generate an email to confirm your account
- Open the email and click on the link to confirm your new account
- Click on the course named “Livescribe Smartpen 101”
- Enter the enrollment key: smartpen
- Click on the “Enroll me in this course” button.

Meeting Outcomes
Participants will:
- Take
steps toward building/enhancing a productive learning community of
stakeholders to support the transition to and implementation of the CCSC
- Develop a deeper understanding of challenges facing institutions of higher education and K-12 schools and school districts across the state
- Examine and provide input toward the development of the Common Core Learning Community
- Lend expertise toward the development of resources to support the “Core Challenge.”
