Jonathan (Jon) Wray

Jon Wray is a co-founder of the Core Challenge.  He is the Instructional Facilitator of Secondary Mathematics for the Howard County Public School System (Ellicott City, MD) and currently serves as the president-elect of the Association of Maryland Mathematics Teacher Educators, an affiliate of the Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators.  Wray was recently elected to the Board of Directors of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (April 2012-2015).  His other roles include:  author, consultant, and national speaker on topics related to technology, equity, and leadership in math education.  Jon Wray has a M.A. from Johns Hopkins University and is pursuing a doctorate in Instructional Leadership for Changing Populations at the Notre Dame of Maryland University (Baltimore, MD).

William (Bill) Barnes

Bill Barnes is a co-founder of the Core Challenge.  He serves as the Coordinator of Secondary Mathematics for the Howard County Public School System (Ellicott City, MD).  Barnes is the immediate past president of the Maryland Council of Teachers of Mathematics, and has served as the Affiliate Service Committee Eastern Region 2 Representative  for the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics.  Bill Barnes has a M.A. from Johns Hopkins University and is the 2003 recipient of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST).

 Image of Jennifer Williamson, Managing Director  

Jennifer Williamson

Jennifer Williamson is the Managing Director of the Core Challenge.

She has over 15 years of experience in the field of nonprofit management and operations.  Her career as a nonprofit executive has included staff leadership positions with national and regionally focused nonprofit organizations as well as both charitable organizations and membership associations.  Prior to her work the Core Challenge she served as President and chief staff officer of a national membership association.  She is responsible for fundraising, sustainability and organizational relations at the Core Challenge.  She is a Certified Association Executive and was recently appointed as a Commissioner to the CAE Commission overseeing the professional development credential for nonprofit executives by ASAE & The Center for Association Leadership.  She is also a former chair of ASAE & The Center for Association Leadership's Ethics Committee.  Jennifer earned a MBA and a M.S. in Nonprofit Management from the University of Maryland and a B.S. from James Madison University.

James Marquis

James Marquis is the Executive Director of the Core Challenge and brings 20 years of executive and technology management and 12 years of non-profit experience to the project.  Marquis is the architect of the Rapids Web Publishing platform.  He is a Microsoft certified systems engineer and earned a B.A. from the University of California, Berkley.
